Pandora's box

Pandora radio! The best thing since the mp3 was first discovered. Now I know Pandora has been around for a good amount of time already, but I never really knew much about it until I downloaded the Pandora Radio app. for my Blackberry Curve. This awesome FREE app. has now replaced my IPod in the car. It allows me to have some variety and not just keep listening to the same songs until the next time I update my IPod. The app. is very straightforward and although I would like to see some improvement in the buffering speed I’m really not complaining. All you have to do is simply open up the app. and type in what kind of station you would like to hear, the search engine it has finds perfect fit for the type of song, artist or category that you are looking for. Pandora can be compared to other apps. Such as Slacker radio, but I am telling you there is no comparison, Pandora has it won, simply because it can pick songs better. Now if you want to hear a specific song right away it may be a bit until Pandora comes around to playing it, and the fact that you can only skip through six songs per station slows down this process a little as well. But if you are looking to shake it up a bit and add some variety of noise you must download the Pandora app. for your Smartphone today.

  1. Pandora is great! However, I have a few faults with it. The iPod will always be better in the car in my opinion because you can select the song you want. In Pandora you have to wait around and listen to other music first. I feel that Pandora is better for finding songs that you may not have heard so you can download them later. Also, I do agree with your point that Pandora is the best in terms of internet music radio. I have tried a few other services and Pandora always gives the best music suggestions.

Pandora is awesome, i use it on my desktop almost every morning get ready to head to class. I didn't even know there was an APP for it on smart phones or the fact you could broadcast it within a vehicle. Not a fan of slacker radio myself either.

  3. I have Pandora on my Iphone. It is by far my favorite app! I enjoy listening to the music on Pandora more than my downloaded songs on Itunes. I wish they had Pandora available for car radios. I have to agree with this post!

  4. Pandora is also a great application because it does not require a lot of memory on your device. With cell phones, you don't have to upload songs from a computer so it makes the phone run smoother. You can also discover new songs and artists from the type of play list you discover. One thing that is slow about Pandora is the buffering time and loading time in between songs. You can't skip over but so many songs in a certain amount of time either, so you basically just have to listen to what they select for your play list if you run out of skips.

  5. I would have to completely agree about Pandora. I use it daily and I love how I learn about new music every time I play it. It is a great app because it is free, and I can play it on my blackberry. The mood I'm in is what helps me decide the type of music I want to listen to. Sometimes it's relaxing John Mayer or the next day it could be fun and happy Hannah Montana music! Either way, Pandora allows me to listen to the music I want to.

  6. I agree that Pandora is a great program. There is one major flaw that I see in its design. That is when Pandora rarely selects and absolutely terrible song and you skip it, then a song that you just don't want to hear at the moment so you skip that one too. Eventually Pandora just stops working if you do this too much. It isn't "musical ADD" friendly. I agree with Brad, the Ipod is the best go-to, and if you have a large enough Ipod then you can turn on shuffle and you can re-discover older music. Here is another way to find new songs in a very interesting way: http://musicovery.com/

  7. Pandora really is not as good as everyone thinks it is. Often times I want to hear a specific song and have to wait through at least 10 songs before I hear it. There have even been times that I have not heard the song at all. I know that this app. is all about the variety of music, but what if I want to hear certain types of songs. Many times when I use Pandora I hear songs that I just cant stand. Then I try to skip them, and guess what? I have used all my skips! I prefer the traditional I tunes, but I guess that if you enjoy variety and want to shake it up, Pandora may be for you.

  8. I definitely agree. Pandora is great. I don't have to worry about going to my ipod, looking for my certain playlist and even making sure its actually charged. Pandora is the first thing I go to when I'm just in my room or in the library doing homework. I can honestly say that there has not been one time where I had to skip a song. Every song that has come on while I was listening to it, I loved. Whether is was an old song that I hadn't heard in a while or a new one that I started to like. No matter what I am doing, pandora is always my go-to music.

  9. I agree that pandora is one of the coolest apps. I think it is a great idea to be able to play a certain genre of music, or a certain artist. I know i sometimes get tired of selecting songs, and would just like to tell my ipod what i want to hear and random music from that artist or genre plays. The fact that it is a FREE app and that it can be broadcast in your car makes it even better.

  10. You hit it on the head Jason. This is a great application, I love the fact that I can just plug my droid into my stereo or car and instantly get new music. The buffering speed could use some improvement but lets not forget it is a free app. I also like the fact I can give a song the "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" pending on whether I want to hear it again.

  11. Thank You for your input on Pandora. I'm glad to see majority agree with my point that Pandora is an excellent app. @ Preston thank you for the suggestion, that website http://musicovery.com/ is an excellent music site.

  12. Agree with the majority. Pandora is great but the 6 skip only is no bueno. I like the idea of playing other bands with the same genre. I have an android and had to buy the $30 car charger bc pandora also eats up the battery. good hint for android users. download the free app Advanced Task Killer. Its a free app that kills apps that consistently run when your not using them and eat up battery life.
